National Geographic magazine’s agenda

National Geographic reports that "unflagging demand" for oil is what drove companies to deep water drilling and led to the 2010 disaster in the Gulf of Mexico.  This, of course, is a lie that conveniently fits the magazine's agenda.

What drove oil companies to deep water drilling was government interventions that prevented these companies for working well-known, more accessible oil reserves that could have produced sufficient supplies of oil at lower cost and far less risk to men, capital and the environment.

What makes "Big Oil" bad and "Big Government" good in some non-thinkers' eyes?

History proves that it is "Big Government" that has killed millions of people and taken health, wealth and liberty from millions more over the last century – not "big oil" or "big business."

Energy independence... so they said then

"[In 1973] we were lined up at the gas station - turned our thermostats down as Washington announced 'Project Independence.' We were going to become self-sufficient, able to provide for our own energy needs. At that time, we were only importing a small percentage of our oil. Yet, the Arab boycott caused half a million Americans to lose their jobs when plants closed down for lack of fuel…. [T]hree years later… 'Project Independence' [had] become "Project Dependence." Congress [had] adopted an energy bill so bad we were led to believe Mr. Ford would veto it. Instead, he signed it. And, almost instantly, drilling rigs all over our land started shutting down. [So], for the first time in our history [in 1976] we [were] importing more oil than we [were producing]." -- Ronald Reagan (1976)

Yet Another Stimulus Package Being Considered

I just sent the following letter to my delegates in the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives:

Dear _________________:

Please take your time putting together a stimulus package. And I would like to see the following changes made to the package:

1. Across the board corporate and personal income tax cuts to leave more money in the pockets of U.S. individuals and corporations for spending.

2. No more application of socialist means in attempts to 'save' capitalism. In other words, NO MORE BAIL-OUTS.

3. Reduce (suspend or permanently eliminate) burdensome, needless and costly restrictions on U.S. industries such as the ridiculous CAFE standards on the auto industry.

4. Open up the continental shelf and other areas for off-shore drilling immediately.

5. Open up ANWR for drilling immediately.

6. Provide some form of amnesty or a moratorium on frivolous law suits that presently inhibit or stop entirely the development of new oil refineries in the U.S.

All of these actions WOULD STIMULATE THE ECONOMY and WOULD LEAD TO JOB CREATION without reckless government spending and huge increases in public debt.

Thank you for listening.

What are you going to do?
